Scentible: scents at sensible prices.
Effective: October 27, 2026
Scentible helps you find real fragrance deals, keep track of the bottles you own and the decants you're trying. It has no ads, no analytics or advertising SDKs, no tracking across apps or websites, and it never sells data. The only third-party code inside the app is the map provider's map for Atlas and our error reporting provider, both described below.
Who we are
Scentible is made by Hayi LLC, New York, NY ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected]. Scentible is for people in the United States; we process data in the United States.
Signing in
You sign in with your phone's built-in sign-in service. Scentible asks it for no name and no email address; we receive only a random identifier that the service creates for Scentible. We never see your email. Your session is kept in your iPhone's secure storage and expires after 30 days; signing out ends it on our server too.
What we store, and why
On our server, linked to that identifier:
- Bottles you watch: the bottle, sizes, optional target prices, alert choice, snoozes, bottles you marked Not Interested, and which deal alerts we sent you (so we never send one twice).
- Your Collection: bottles you own, size, the price you paid if you enter it, your private star rating.
- Your Wear Log: the day and time you wore a bottle, an optional occasion, and the weather for that hour (temperature and condition only, never your location).
- Your Decants: scents on your Decant List, their status and dates, how you tried them (on skin or paper), your private stars and note.
- Your taste profile: worked out on our server from your own star ratings and our catalog's notes, families and houses, only to rank suggestions for you. It is never shown to anyone else.
- Settings: an optional bottle-size range and whether Back in Stock alerts are on.
- Recently viewed bottles (up to eight), so Search can show them.
- Push notification token for your device, if you allow alerts.
- Technical logs: like any server, ours records the time, the address requested and the IP address of each request, to keep the service secure and fix problems. They are not used to build a profile of you.
- Barcodes you teach the app: when you link an unknown barcode to a bottle, we keep the code and the bottle you picked (not your photo) to help match that barcode for everyone.
What stays on your iPhone
- Camera and photos: scanning and any photo you choose to identify a bottle are processed on your iPhone and never uploaded. If you tap Recent Photos, Scentible asks for access to your photo library so it can show your latest photos to pick from; you can allow all photos, only the ones you select, or none, and change this in Settings. All Photos uses the phone's own photo picker, which needs no access. When you scan a label, only the text the phone read is sent to find the bottle.
- Fragrances and photos you add yourself: a fragrance you add to your Collection (house, name, type, size, notes) and a photo you add to a bottle you own are saved to your account so the app can show them to you. They are private to your account: never shown to anyone else, never added to our catalog or search, and never used for prices. The bottle cutout is made on your iPhone. Removing the bottle, or deleting your account, deletes them and the photo.
- Location (only if you allow it): used on your iPhone to sort perfume shops by distance and to look up the weather for a wear. We never store your location.
- Bottle cutouts from seller product photos are made and cached on your iPhone.
Services we use
- Phone platform services: sign-in, push notifications and weather are provided by your phone's operating system vendor. They receive the identifier, push token or hour and place the service needs to work, and nothing else from us.
- Maps provider (Atlas): the Atlas map is our maps provider's. Showing it sends map and tile requests, which cover the area you are looking at, along with your IP address and device details, to that provider. Its privacy policy applies to the map (see the Terms for the link).
- Places data (Atlas): a shop's rating, opening hours and photos come from our maps provider. Our server asks it about the shop only, with nothing about you, and passes the details and a short-lived photo link to your iPhone. We do not store its photos. The photos then load on your iPhone directly from the provider's servers, so it sees your IP address and device details for those requests. Photos it supplies are used under its terms.
- Sellers: product photos load from the seller's own image servers, and tapping Buy opens the seller's site. Some links may earn Scentible a commission (the app says "We may earn a commission." next to Buy buttons). Deals are always ranked on price only. Scentible points you to retailers; your order, payment and any issue with a product are handled by the retailer under its own terms and privacy policy. When you open a retailer's site from a Buy link, the retailer and its affiliate partners may use cookies to credit the sale to Scentible. That tracking is theirs, not ours, and is covered by their policies.
- Crash reports: if the app crashes or hits a serious error, our error reporting provider receives a report with the error, the app version and basic device and system details. It carries no account identifier, no name, no email, no location and no screenshots, and we do not use it to build a profile of you or to track you.
- Hosting: Our US cloud hosting provider stores the server database and backups. It handles data only on our instructions.
Your choices
- Turn off alerts, location or the camera any time in iOS Settings.
- Delete your account in Settings > Account: this deletes everything listed above from our server. We also ask the sign-in service to revoke Scentible's access; if it can't be reached, we keep only that token until the request goes through, then delete it.
- Questions or requests: [email protected].
How long we keep it, and security
We keep your data until you delete your account. Backups of our database are kept for up to about 60 days, so deleted data can remain in a backup until it ages out; it is not restored or used. Technical logs are kept briefly. We use reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
Do Not Track
Scentible does not track you across apps or websites, so there is nothing to opt out of; we treat every user the same whether or not a "Do Not Track" or similar signal is on.
Your privacy rights
Whether you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We don't sell or share your personal information for advertising, and we don't treat anyone differently for using these rights. Deleting your account in Settings > Account deletes it right away; for anything else email [email protected] and we will answer within 45 days. We may need to confirm it's you by asking you to sign in. If we decline a request, you can reply to ask us to reconsider, and we will explain our decision in writing. You may also use an authorized agent; we will ask for proof they act for you. In the last 12 months we have not sold personal information or shared it for advertising. Categories we collect, all from you or your use of the app: identifiers (the random sign-in identifier, push token), commercial information (bottles you own, price paid), user content (ratings, notes, wear log, photos you add), usage information (recently viewed, watched bottles), and technical information (IP address in logs, crash reports). We use them only to run the app, and share them only with the hosting, error reporting and platform services listed above or when the law requires.
Children
Scentible is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has an account, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
If the law requires us to share data
We may share data if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of Hayi LLC (we would tell you first and the same promises would apply).
Changes
We'll update this page and the date above if anything changes, and tell you in the app if a change is significant.
